Day 2 Test

Hi, travelling to UK on 5 October and have to book Day 2 test, but is it only a PCR test that is accepted rather than an Antigen/lateral flow test and are there any recommendations. Many thanks.

Hi Punky28,
You don't say which UK country you're returning to, but if you're double-vaccinated and returning to England, an Antigen/lateral flow is sufficient for your Day 2 test.

Actually that’s not correct, if you are travelling to England on the 5th October and you are double vaccinated then you need to book a day 2 PCR test to be taken after you arrive. The reference number is entered onto the Passenger Locator Form that you complete 48 hours before arrival, lateral flow tests are not accepted yet. There is talk that this maybe relaxed in time for the October school holidays but up until that date it must be PCR.
I have booked DANTE for my test as I am in Spain currently on holiday

Apologies, Rick is correct - I was confusing the Day 2 test with the Pre-departure test, the latter no longer being necessary from today. The UK government has stated that it intends to change the requirement for a Day 2 test to only an Antigen test, but not until the end of this month and a precise date is yet to be confirmed.
