Hi There,

I am trying to get pet insurance for 2 cats who will be 8 yrs old in June. It seems that they are already past it from an insurance perspective. The only thing I am getting back is that they will not insure for vets fees for cats over 7 years old. Has anyone had any luck elsewhere.

Thanks, Sean

Thanks for the response. Apparently they just insure dogs. I have since found someone though.

All the best, Sean

Hi,

Many Spaniards don't bother with pet insurance as vets fees are dramatically lower than the UK.

One of our dogs needed her teeth cleaning, plus one removed, cost €50. In the UK our other dog had the same op it was £400.

So might be worth just chucking some money in a jar each month and self insure?

It was Provet in Los Alcázares. They also took a cancerous lump off our pugs leg. It cost c€100, €50 for the op and €50 for the biopsy. He had a couple of these lumps removed in the UK, and with Chemotherapy it was well over £4000. I told the vet about how cheap I thought it was and how expensive it would have been in the UK and she said all her UK customers say that.

Also in the UK you would pay a consultation fee, c£30, just to see the pet, but they don’t charge here for the consultation, just the treatment and meds cost.
