Hi all I’m looking for some advice about bringing a uk car to spai
Hello Martin, if you search UK car in Spain under Everywhere, just under all the "posts related to your search" you will find "All results" and everything you could possibly want to know will be there somewhere!! If you find a "Jim's Guide" in there, the information will be full, easy to understand and accurate.

I've not done a guide (yet!) on the topic. I just refer people to Graham's website. Graham is local to me, he and Leigh have years of experience, and the website is loaded with good information.

Thanks Cheryl
My main advice would be to bring one with the lowest emissions possible, preferably zero UK road tax, it makes it cheaper to register and tax in Spain. Also try and get a car that has switchable LHD headlights but if not buy replacement LHD drive ones in the UK, they seem cheaper on German websites, and one more thing try and get European certificate of conformity, sometimes it's with the service record book.

Hi,
I did it as second hand cars are ridiculously expensive in Spain, as they don't have many company cars or the culture of leasing as we do in the UK. They just keep them until they die, so its supply and demand.
I brought a cheap, 10 year old low mileage Fiat 500 over, as a run around whilst here to save on hire charges.
It cost me 1200€ to have transferred onto Spanish plates. That included the Gestors fee, ITV, import tax, road tax and other fees. The Gestor did it all for me. All I had to do was new headlights and rear lights (fog light is on the wrong side). What fog!!!
Plus I had to swap the wiring over for the fog and reversing lights. This all cost around £50.
But be aware, everyone says RHD cars are worthless in Spain. I dont really care as I'll run it until it also dies.
Hope this helps?

As well as the information given above it may be helpful to have a look at the N332 site for anything to do with driving in Spain. It is run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil for English speaking people and includes an English version of the Spanish equivalent of the Highway Code.

You ask What fog ? Well you should have tried driving towards Alicante early last Tuesday morning, a real pea souper cut visibility to less than 50 metres.
