We've just returned from another holiday/house-hunting trip to Southern Costa Blanca. We've been looking at Orihuela Costa and the outlying areas. We keep being drawn back to Los Montesinos and just thought we'd like to find out a bit more from people who actually live there. I'm 59 and my partner is 62. Can I have your comments please?

I too looked at Los M as we liked the Spanish feel to it. However most of the urbanisations are outside Los M and too far to walk.  So this defeated the object. Entre Nar markets itself as Los M but it's too far out. If you can find something in Los M itself it's worth a look.

San Miguel de la Salinas is a nice option if you want something more Spanishy

I read your message we are of the same age group and have now after years of looking found our home in lo crispin, this is a urbanisation not far from L.M,We do visit the bar's and cafe regular and find it very nice.If you are thinking of living out here any where we found you need a car as no matter where you live you want to explore,go shopping,go to the beach and so forth. We know how hard it is when you only have a limited time to look, and are shown some lets say not suitable property.Hope you have good luck in 2017.If we can be of any help just ask

Thank you for your reply and happy new year to you.

We have spotted a few nice properties in Lo Crispin but thought it might be a bit far away from amenities. We will definitely have a car but thought it would be nice to have a couple of nice restaurants and bars within walking distance.

Regards.

Jill and Tom.

If you cannot walk to bars and restaurants in less than 10 mins you are too far out. You don't want to have to drive everywhere

There are so many urbanisations that have little in the way of local amenities. The key to your research is Google Maps. We discounted lots of properties and urbanisations after looking at distances from amenities.

Try Cuidad Quesada (about 5 to 10 minutes by car from Los Montesinos) . We have a holiday home there (in an area called Dona Pepa) but it is also a good place for full time living with many residents of all nationalities and everything you need around you. 10 minutes from beaches and near a golf course and walking distance to loads of restaurants, bars, shops and supermarkets, from where ever you live in Quesada.

Go and look at our Talkquesada forum to give you an idea of what its like and see what you think: www.talkquesada.com

We have a holiday apartment in the La Herrada urbanisation on the edge of Los Montesinos, there are several bars and a supermarket all within easy walking distance. Los Montesinos is about a 15 minute walk and has a good assortment of bars, restaurants and shops.

Hi Jill, You are the same age group as me and my wife. We live half the year in the UK and the other half in Los Montesinos Village itself. We have a two bed apartment 5 minutes walk from Los Monty Square and we love it! The village has everything you need and more. There are Plenty of English and Spanish bars. Restaurants to cater for everyone. My wife is disabled and in a wheelchair. Los Monty is perfect for her. The locals are friendly, the Ex Pats friendly and informative should you need any help! Trying to think of faults, but truly none spring to mind. We use a car for travelling around. The Beaches, Shopping Malls are all within a few minutes drive. We looked around before we bought our place and although some of the outlying urbanisations and villages are lovely, Los Montesinos village has everything and is still a Spanish village. :-)

Hi. We are out again from 24th April until 12th May and wonder if you and your wife would like to meet in the square for a drink and a chat. Montesinos is still our favourite place at the moment and would love to hear what it's like living there.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Jill and Tom.
