What is mil palmeras like ?
We are coming to Costa Blanca in February to look for a property, we have seen some potential properties in and around this area . Is the area a mixture of Spanish and expats
What's good and not so good about the area

Mil Palmeras is quite nice with a mixture of Spanish and Scandinavian. Not so many English. It tends to be more of a holiday resort rather than a residential area. By far the best area is Torre de la Horadada which is more of a small village with it's square and sea front. The whole area is flat and very well laid out. It is also only a couple of kilometers from the main town of Pilar de la Horadada which has everything one needs. In fact one could do a lot worse than buy a property here. I have lived here with my wife for 17 years.

We have a house in Torre de la Horadada which is a lovely area, as is Mil Palmeras. You can't go wrong with either area in my opinion. Mil Palmeras has a lovely beach, as does La Torre and the "strip" in Mil Palmeras offers lots of restaurants and can be lively in the peak season with late night market. La Torre also has two squares Pueblo Latino and the old square both with restaurants and bars. Mix of English, Spanish and Germans too. I am pleased to say our road in La Torre is becoming more Spanish as time goes by.

Mil Palmeras has a great beach with 2 beach bars, the beach car park is free. There is one small supermarket called Saura which provides everything you need (though if you want more choice, go up the road to Pilar. There is also a pharmacy in Mil Palmeras and a strip of restaurants near the plaza. Out of season, many of these close, though one or 2 remain open. There is a also a big Chinese Wok near the main road, which is OK, but comparatively expensive for Chinese restaurants. The area isn't great for buses, so I recommend a rented car if you want to get out and about.

We are moving to Torre later this year after searching the coast from Valencia to Almeria. We chose it because of its village feel and some (but not too many) Brits about. Multi International suits us better. It is a good location to get elsewhere (Cartagena and Murcia are the big cities) by motorway, location to an airport, all year round local amenities (in Pilar), easy access to beaches and the vibe you get walking around the place.
