Hi I’m with iberdrola and I’ve not used any electric yet as I’m just connected and can’t get to my flat. I’m on the 5kw power as I was told if I was having a low power it could trip out if too many appliances being used. But Iv just got a bill for over €35. I’m asking if it’s worth dropping to the lower power or finding another supplier if there’s any to choose from. Thanks

Most of your bill will be the standing charge, usually around 25 - 30 Euros each month, the actual electricity consumption is a small part of the bill. There may be other suppliers but the same will apply. As for the power if you reduce to 3.5KW you will find it will trip out if you have a number of appliances in use at the same time, the 5KW level should eliminate that. If you do decide to reduce and then revert to the higher rate you will be charged for the change.

We gave a two bedrooms bungalow, we are on 3.5 tariff. We have washing machine, air con and lights all on at same time an it's fine. Only use as holiday home. When we are not there it's about 17€ a month standing charges.
