Yesterday again a typical situation in Monte Pego. A dog owner scolded me because I was feeding the cats in one of my 5 colonies. There was a somewhat ugly conversation, because I now react very aggressively to such stupid people. When will people finally understand that even cats have a right to a decent life. I ask everyone who loves animals to provide more education in their own circle of acquaintances. Let them show more respect to ALL animals. WE are not the crowning glory of creation in this world.

Such disrespectful cat haters make me sick.

Whilst I do not condone verbal interference in your habits, it maybe useful to know that in some areas it is an offence to feed feral cats.   Spain has the biggest feral cat problem in Europe.  Feral cats have a very short natural life span and feeding can make them more fertile.  They generally live for only 2 years.  They need protein from their prey to survive and they help keep the wildlife in their natural habitat under control.  You maybe need to ask yourself if you are really doing them any favours.  I would not hurt any animal but neither would I interfere in their natural survival.  They carry disease and should not be encouraged into populated areas so perhaps taking a more objective view might be called for instead of hurling insults against someone who is perhaps thinking your habits are not in the cats best interests.  Just a different point of view.

First of all, cats can get 20 years old, not 2 years. Even cats in the wildness can get 10 years and older. But if you do not feed cats, you cannot catch them for castration!!!!

I invested the last 10 years more then 4.000€ ONLY for castrations, plus food. On that place, where this Woman let her displeasure over the cats run free, is a place of an oficial registered colonie by the Ayuntamiento in Pego. And that property belomgs to a nice Spaniard, who expressly allowed me to feed there. The lady has nothing, neither directly nor indirectly anything to do with this property or near by. I lived there for 7 years and know most of the neighbors. She is not one of them. The aggressions in Monte Pego against cats annoy me immensely !!!

If more people from Monte Pego would take money in hand to have more cats neutered, there wouldn't be !!!! this explosion of the population. My colonies usually remain constant because I already had most of them neutered. Unfortunately !!!! There are always people who like cats, feed them by their homes, but without wanting to invest € for castrations. At some point the house is sold, the new owner does not like cats and chased them away.

And so new pregnant or young cats are added to the feeding points. If only everyone in MP would donate € 10 or € 20 per month, all cats could probably be neutered in MP.

But just to complain, but not wanting to pay a penny for castrations, it can't be good. It isn´t fair at all.

The problem is that these are your choices and your opinions which you are quite entitled to have but you need to accept that not everyone has to agree with you and your  annoyance at people who do not agree with is over reaction.  There is no way that I would donate £10 or £20 a month to cats but that does not make me a bad person.   There are many people who could not afford that or care enough to be willing to do it and your expectation in that regard is simply unrealistic.   Carry on feeding the cats if you think that is the right thing to do but dont expect everyone else to share your views or accept your aggression.

Hi Karin,

If you want other members to look at your GoFundMe page, you need to edit your post by putting a "return" at the end of the link - this will change the text colour to blue and make it 'live', allowing people to click on it and take them straight to your site.  If not, people have to copy the URL and paste it into their Web browser.

Kind regards,

Kim

That is ridiculous, saying feral cats only live 2 years.

Where I live now, I started feeding a feral cat but when I did it did not want to leave. But I feed wild birds and it had started noticing them so I stopped feeding it and it left.
