Hi Jilmb,

When we looked into this for 2 cats pre October 2000 I recall quotes of 600 GBP for the 2 of them together. Not dissimilar to the airlines at that time.

Dogs should be easier and could probably accompany you in a cabin. We didn't take that option in the end and drove down with them in large cages behind our seats. They were as good as gold.

May be best to phone Brittany Ferries. Try posting into the Pinoso Community FB site as well...somebody will may have recent intel.

Best wishes and good luck!

Hi  D and J,

Thanks for this, I gave up trying to ring Brittany ferries, we might just drive to France instead. My husband loves a good road trip.

Once again thanks for taking the time out to reply 😎

De nada, have a great trip. The French hotels are pretty accommodating when it comes to dogs so stop overs become possibilities...and welcome breaks ;-)

Best wishes!

Getting dog accommodation on a ferry can be difficult so best book as far in advance as possible.
Prices vary according to time of year etc but an easy way to get a price (and check availability) would be to go to the booking section on the Brittany Ferries web site and follow it thru to the booking stage.  That will give you an exact price - provided dog accommodation is available.

We paid an average of around £450 for recent crossings and that included a dog friendly cabin (kennels might be cheaper).

We like the ferry as it saves so much driving, tolls and hotel fees.   The evening departure from Portsmouth is particularly good for us after an 9 hour drive from Scotland.  Return ferries aren’t as good for us as they tend to arrive in the UK late afternoon.  Great if you live nearer Portsmouth tho.
