Hi, my partner just recently posted on ( moving personal goods to Spain for a holiday) We are now looking for more help. We contacted a local builder that was recommended to us via a friend at work. Unfortunately he doesn't speak any English and all communication is done with phone translators. This is difficult. We are looking for a gardener and a builder to help us with our project in Monovar. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Al, a late reply as I have only just seen this. You may have found the people you need, if so then ignore this. Builder - Nick Gooding on +34 618 542 602. Excellent work here. Gardener - Manuel on +34 659 935 334. His English is better than he thinks and we use WhatsApp. Tractor work - ploughing and clearing - Antonio on 649 12 85 11. No English but WhatsApp and google translate work well.

Hi Dave n Jules, that is really helpful. We are going to Spain end of the week and sourced a gardener who contacted once then didn't get back to us about himself or the builder so this info from you is great and just in time. Thanks again and thank you for the welcome which is lovely.

Hi Dave, don't suppose you know of any other english speaking builders as Nick's calender is full this year ?

Hmm...yes the good ones get booked up very quickly. I am not familiar with other builders' work so couldn't recommend a specific. The best way may be to join Pinoso Community FB page (it has a larger following and distance-wise is quite close so they are happy to travel) plus the Monover one. Ask there and for recommendations or search the person / site using the magnifying glass icon.
Let us know how you get on, and we will keep our ears / eyes open.

OK Dave, thanks for all your help which i will look into if needed. I asked Nick who gave me an alternate number to try so will go that route 1st. Will let you know how we get on. Cheers

Just back from Monovar . Manuel was a nice guy and his english is better than he thinks. Nick was fully booked but suggested Ken so thankyou for your help. We are now looking forward to the pics :)

I'm moving back out there in August, I'm a retired Brickie and still up for small jobs if you get stuck, I don't know if you've ever been to Lukey's bar in La Romana but the Landlord Mick knows a lot of trades in the area.
