Hi RichieB,

The rules are applied regionally, seasonally and could also vary from one Town Hall to another, so to keep on the right side of the law, it would be best to ask your own Town Hall.

Kind regards,

Kim

Yes you do need a licence.  I come under Sax Ayuntamiento and have just emailed them for this year's licence. There is no charge. You can only burn between October and May.

I am not sure if it's the same in your area.

Kim is right, check with your town hall. Pinoso can do online applications, not sure about Sax (sorry - noticed, Classic Man covered that above). Monover prefer a walk in but they were very helpful. Say 'small garden fire(s)'. there are time and distance limitations - written on the back of the form. If you need a blank one for Monover (check Pinoso first pending where you are - I understand your post but the demarcation between Pinoso / Monover would change your approach), I can PM you one.

17th October to 31st of May excepting the 'periodo desde el jueves santo al segundo lunes de pascua'. Google translate will do the job there. For speed - period from Holy Thursday to the second Monday of Easter.

Done (out by 13:00)

Small tip - in this valley the winds pick up by mid-afternoon but are usually low / none in the morning. Start early.

Nothing / all prohibited between 1st June to 16 October...and carries heavy fines, plus everything is tinder dry.

Hope this helps,

D&J

Hi Yes thank you, I did a walk in this week and they were very helpful, I now have a burning certificate which as you say is October to May but not over the Easter period.

My Spanish neighbour said we couldn't burn at weekends but there isn't anything on the form that I can see so probobly her not wanting fires at the weekend (not that I would anyway)

Hi again,

It doesn't say anything about 'not weekends', at least for Monover, on the form or back of it. Will look out over the valley tomorrow (Sunday). Today would have been too wet due to last night's rains so we concentrated on gathering piles ready. Most of my Spanish neighbours are at work during the weekday so would burn at weekends I'm sure (almost). Will ask a few friends too.

Back tomorrow ;-)...hopefully slightly toasty!

There were fires today (Sunday), not us we are sill gathering ready for...

So, not a legal requirement, but one of your choice, as you say ;-)

Best wishes,

D
