If you exceed your U.K. 90 day limit will you be refused entry to Spain ?

Or if you exceed it whilst already in Spain what happens when you attempt to leave ? Brummiealan

If you exceed your 90 day limit there will be a possibility that you could be fined upto €10,000 and bared from re-entry into an EU country upto 5 years.

This question has been posed several times and there has never been an answer from someone who has tried it.

I haven't yet heard of any UK resident being sanctioned for overstaying in Spain. The question is, do you feel lucky?

TBH You'll probably get away with it most of the time but eventually there will be a quiet period and a bored passport control officer who wants a bit of excitement in his life.

So....how many UK residents do you know who have overstayed?

They aught to come on here and give us their story and experience!!

They wouldn't be spending millions on the new passport detection system (EES) for no reason!

For what it is worth, we are both irish citizens and hold irish passports, we also have 90 day limit and have to apply  for NIE number to stay for further 90 days, we have to apply for residence, or leave for a day and then return for further 90 days, a weekend in Portugal would be nice. Unfortunately this law was passed in spain in2012 so EU country or not same rules apply, best of luck Pat

That's interesting, so do they stamp your Irish passports on entry and departure?

Here are the rules for Irish and EU passport holders if they want to live permanently or past the 90 days in Spain.

Irish ie the SOUTH are in Europe so 90 days does not apply to them, thats why lots of brits are applying for Irish passports.

Those rules and regulations apply to all EU members.

Hello

Whether or not your passport is stamped on departure & you are able to pass straight throught - it will have  been automatically  recorded  & that info.  will appear,   when you next  present your passport on arrival.

Whether action could be taken then & you  could be refused entry, is quite  a risk to take

Cheers
