My wife has a UK issued Disabled badge, can it be used when parking, in the Costa Brava area? Or are there special permissions we have to get for it to be recognised by the Spanish police and authorities.

No way to get a Spanish one and no' special permissons' to be had either.

Disabled parking badges showing the name of the holder which have been issued by another EU country can be used in Spain until they expire. This does not now include badges issued in the UK.

So in short, at present, UK blue badges can not be used in Spain.....
