Hi. Hoping to drive through Spain next year from Santander to Moraira. Does anybody know of any good hotels on the way to break the journey up. Many thanks in advance.

Don't know if it suits your timings, but I can recommend Hotel Bed4U on the edge of Tudela.

Modern hotel, nice rooms, secure car park at rear, amazing buffet breakfast, basic restaurant or two within walking distance, pleasant english speaking reception, cheap fuel station and Lidl very near. Motorway junction near but I recommend going all way to Zaragoza from here on the good A road to save toll, then south to Valencia on the A23, also toll free.

Hi Herefordjack. Thankyou for your reply and will look into this. Normally drive right down but thinking about doing it a bit different.

Hi Brianbj. Thanks for replying and normally do it in one run but just thinking about doing it differently. Drove back last year through the night and found it very tiring.

The only time I've done it, got back into Santander around 7.00pm then had horrendous drive back in dark and torrential rain. That stretch to Bilboa was horrendous, oncoming headlights in your face, then you go inland up into the hills, again unpleasant in the dark on three lane roads. I was very glad I'd booked a hotel about three hours into the drive. Setting off in the sunshine after a good night's sleep is so much worth the extra outlay.

Go for ‘Paradores in Spain’. (Google the site you will be surprised if their historical interest).

We always stay oberin them  when travelling through to Moriara from Santander. You can’t go wrong, High quality and reasonable priced.

Hi

When we came in January we stayed south of Zaragoza in Carinena at the hotel del  vino.

The hotel is just off the main road but very quiet, with Secure parking which is great for us as we bring our bikes.

It also happily allowed our  dog and were very welcoming.

The hotel is attached to a bodega and has a  nice small restaurant serving good food.

We will definitely stay there again next time

hope this helps

Hi Rose31

Thanks for replying to my post. Sounds great and will do some googling. Hope to be there sometime next year.
