I am struggling to get Social security numbers for myself and husband.

We have S1 forms from DWP and also Padron register, but to register at Doctors I believe we need social security numbers from INSS in Denia.

However I think they are appointment only at present, and I cannot make sense of their website to make appointmnets.

Can anyone help.?

You will be issued a social security number when you have had you S1 checked and accepted. The INSS then give you the paperwork to take to the local health centre or clinic who will issue you with a SIP card and assign a doctor to you.

First, the reason I asked about residencia is that you won't be issued a SIP card without one.

Secondly, I assisted a 72 year old new English neighbour go through this process in Denia in July. They weren't granting appointments for this at the time because of covid, I don't know if things have changed. We had to do it all online, see my posts in another thread about how I did this.

Thanks, I know what the process was before July. My problem is that we dont have resedencia cards from before July.

We are not quite ready to go for TIE card, but even if we did it would be weeks before we got them, and we both need the doctor now.

Its not a one off emergency it is ongoing healthcare, which we cannot afford privately.

The Social security will not see us and National police will not help either.

Very stressful, but Im sure we are not the only ones to fall between the 2 systems ?

Hi Sally,

As you have an S1, have you tried taking it, along with your EHIC and passport, to your Centro de Salud (health centre), and explain to them that your TIE application is held up because of the lack of available appointments at Alicante's Oficina de Extranjeria?

You say you're not quite ready to make your TIE applications, but you do need to do it this year, otherwise your right to health care won't be protected by the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement.

Kind regards,

Kim

We have used our EHIC at our local health centre, they supply a temporary SIP. This has allowed us to see a GP to get a prescription get an annual blood test don  and book in for flu jabs.  They did need a copy of the padrón for the latter.
