Wills following Brexit
Has there been any changes in what the Spanish will recognise in relation to wills drawn up to invoke the English will of a UK resident that owns property in Spain
Many thanks

Your best advice is to draw up seperate wills, one pertaining to any assets you have in the UK, and one covering any assets you have in Spain.
This is what myself and my partner have done. We used notario Jose Carlos Perez Juan in Almoradi for the Spanish will, which is registered with the appropriate Spanish authorities.
The service was excellent, he has a British assistant who did all the translation work and provided a bi-lingual will at a price around 70-80€ pp.
Thank you it was more asking if the status quo has changed as a result of Brexit as requirements often change and we reflected the advice that was correct about 5 years ago as regards wills and wondered if any changes had been made since Brexit.

Hi Mel,
No, the advice has not changed post Brexit - as HJ has advised, it is prudent to have a separate Will to cover only the assets you have in Spain. You should be forgiven, though, for thinking Brexit had made a difference to your Wills, given the number of adverts from Will-making companies on English-speaking radio channels and in the freebie press in Spain!
Kind regards,
Kim
