Hi Guys

I’m trying to move a large wooden table (no chairs) to Moraira. The quotes I’ve received are astronomical (£1200)for a single item. If anybody is moving stuff out to Moraira or Javea I’d be grateful if you would consider adding  my table. I’ll obviously pay for my item and could deliver it to most places in the uk. Any help greatly appreciated .

kind regards

Chris

Hello Chris

Since Jan 2021 & UK left the EU, everything (from an envelope( in some cases quoted) to a wardrobe etc) is subject to VAT & Import Tax on top of normal delivery charges, + loads of documents & customs related paperwork. that carriers have to provide ( sometimes translated)..... It really is not worthwhile in most cases however, only you can decide that, but that will account for your quote.

You could  try other  legal carriers who are now familiar with the customs situation  and get a few more quotes ,but you now know why it is expensive.

Most of us who live here ,  don't buy/receive anything from the UK now

Cheers

Thanks for the reply . I’m in agreement about moving it unless I can find a kind sole who will let me add this item to their consignment. The other option is to take it down myself in my Sprinter but I just don’t know if I will encounter multiple issues and get turned back at some point along the route . Driving return costs were €800 for the van including fuel tolls and Eurostar . That’s before the big increase in fuel. Cheers Chris

Hi again Chris, I responded to your initial enquiry in April and recommended White and Company who moved us to Spain earlier this year. They were excellent throughout by the way.

We paid them just over £2000 for (from memory) 16 cubic metres of goods.

Did you request a quote from them as £1200 seems really high.

Thanks for your input once again. I did contact them but they are not interested in small loads unfortunately only full ones.

Try Steve from Chevron Secure couriers, he’s on FB, brilliant, keeps you updated at every stage of removal, does all latest paperwork and at a very reasonable price. Can’t fault him.
