This is on January 31st to February 2nd.

If you've not been before, it's well worth a visit. As well as all the stalls, there are usually performances of one sort or another going on.

Parking is easiest if you go to Ociopia shopping centre, then walk less than five minutes into the old town.

On the Friday the stalls will probably only open up at midday, and some of them usually close from 2 - 4, but Friday is the quietest day to go.

I've not searched for information, but the town halls usually lays on coaches from Orihuela Costa, and Dave's coach trips may also be providing the service.

Hi Jim,

We went to this market last year, on your recommendation, and it was brilliant!  We went on the Sunday and came in from the San Bartolome direction; whilst we initially picked up signs for Ociopia, we then lost them and ended up going around in a circle, so we parked where they hold the market, opposite Sabadell bank, on the CV-9243.  One of my favourite stalls was the birds of prey - last year it was in front of Bankia in Plaza Carmen.  Thanks for the dates, definitely worth another visit.

Kind regards,

Kim

I agree Kim, the birds of prey are my favourite. I also like the kiddies area with the manually operated roundabout etc. The Moroccan tea room and pastries is good as well.

We've been a few times, and are perhaps fortunate that our natural way to Ociopia is from Callosa through Redovan. No need to drive through the new town to get to the old. I'll give you directions if you want them.

As an old guy, my bugbear is that in the old town there are very few toilets. There are portacabins and the odd cafe, but not enough of them.

PS: take your camera or smartphone.
