If you don't understand the topic title, I suggest you Google it.

Over recent months I've tried to reduce my involvement in the forum, simply because I've too many jobs to do, plus I haven't enough time to follow my own interests, let alone the time to sort out Margaret's estate. However, I still find myself spending too much time on the forum and on answering PMs.

Since joining this forum, I have until recently given Alex my full support, but unfortunately my view has changed.

Topic moderation is of course necessary, to delete openly abusive posts and ban those who submit them.

However, there is an increasing amount of political correctness, which is one of the reasons why I wouldn't want to return to the UK.

To call the warning to people about employing rogue British tradesmen 'Brit bashing' is in my opinion totally unwarranted, as is calling someone 'childish and bullying'.

What has brought things to a head with myself is that Alex has given Nicola a final warning, and has just taken the ludicrous step of banning Ray.

I've got more than enough to do with my life without having to think about whether or not what I say is politically correct before posting comments plus, unlike some people, I support my friends.

This has prompted my decision to leave the forum altogether. I won't be joining another forum, as that would be jumping from the frying pan into the fire, plus I have to concede that this forum has been until recently the best I've come across.

A lot of my guides need updating, and I haven't got the time to do so. Due to recent changes, some are now showing inaccurate and misleading information, and that will only get worse as time passes. Nor do I want them on a forum where I'd feel obliged to answer questions about them but have to be ultra careful about how I word what I say.

Because I don't want my name associated with bad or misleading information, I have therefore deleted all my guides.

I've set up a rule in Gmail so that any messages from the forum go straight into the bin.

A friend has spent a lot of time and effort in recent months in setting up a website for my guides. This means that they are all readily available in one place. Rather than being on a local area forum, which many people with interests in other areas of Spain might not look at, a dedicated website means they are more visible to a wider audience. There is a facility on the website for people to post comments, but there is no obligation on myself to respond to those comments. This means that I will have more time to keep the guides updated and, of course, to write new guides.

I suggest that anyone who is interested makes a note of the website address, in case this post is deleted by admin.

To those who have supported me during my forum membership, and especially to those who made donations in Margaret's memory, I'd like to say thank you very much for that, and it's been nice 'knowing' you.

Adios, mis amigos.

Jim. I appreciate your concerns. I do believe your continued involvement would be beneficial to others. I realise your time is precious, but/&, swayed by ongoing intrusive political correctness. Reconsider. You may make a difference. With regards, & think on this..........

Jim,

You are an institution on here...you can not disappear!

The forum will never be the same again!!

I understand and respect your attitude towards your mates and I know you like most other people have many other things to do in life besides the forum but....please do not be too hasty eh? I know your a proud Yorkshire man but please reconsider ?

Alex...if your reading this please be grown up enough to know Jim is the number one on your forum and the backbone of it....with all this none sense and PC floating around surly this can be resolved amicably? This is like losing your star Centre forward and manager all in one!

If it can’t I can see the forum going down the drain ....I know everything in life is a juggling act and all about balancing the do’s and the don’ts and the rights and the wrongs And I know there must be a way going forward to resolve this situation.

Please sit down  Together for a coffee and Resolve your differences...life’s too short and iam sure many more people will feel the same way who regularly turn to the forum for help and guidance?

I have only been a member for a short time, however I have found your guides very useful and helpful.

As well as saying a huge thank you, I would like to wish you good luck.

Many thanks for all your guides they have been invaluable to us in all areas, you will be sadly missed.

It is a sign of the times that the pc brigade appear to be taking over and nowadays we are  afraid of stating our views.

I wish you all the best and happiness and good health.

Oh dear Jim, I thought this might happen. No thanks is enough for the help you've provided and to the thousands who have been guided by your great advice - myself included.  Do what makes you happy Jim & if this forum isn't it then you have to move on leaving many saddened by your departure x

Very sorry to see you retire Jim but I understand completely (and the topic title!)

Over the years I've been a member of many forums and sadly seen a good number of them go the same way.

I don't know what precipitated RayD's ban or Nicola's warning nor do I particularly want to but to Alex a 'shot in foot' I think probably covers it.

Conscious of the changes in the forum I've been posting less and this nonsense may well be the last straw for me also.

I wish you all the best for the future m8.
