'Several European Union countries are now vaccinating their population against Covid-19 faster than the UK.

After a sluggish start to their vaccine rollout, many EU nations have picked up the pace.

Malta now has the fastest rate in the EU, with a seven-day average of 1.31 doses per 100 people every day, compared to 0.71 in the UK.

Other countries like Germany, Spain, Portugal and Belgium are also vaccinating at a faster pace than Britain'

Hopefully a good sign

I know but at least its a good sign. Also dont forget, the UK ignored the application advice of 2 vaccines in a set time and opted for mass single vaccines. Spain is sticking to the initial advice of set number of weeks for second vaccination

I thought I read that Spain are now following the UK in allowing 12 weeks between AZ vaccinations. By extending the time between vaccinations the UK were able to protect a larger number of people hence the dramatic drop in hospitisations and deaths. They are now doing roughly twice as many second doses as they are giving first doses.

Aitch.

you have to think of the logistics here, Malta is a comparitively small island and no where near the population of the UK ,they should be getting it done quicker.I dont know where you got the info but be careful as if it is EU based they have been going out of their way to try and discredit the UK all along ,Absolutely shameful in my opinion and have shown their true colours.I live in Spain but am glad that the country of my birth has got out of this corrupt self centered institution. No doubt I will receive flack for saying this but armchair warriors dont concern me.I watched some footage yesterday of a French politician trying to say that the French were ahead of the UK until the French TV presenter gave him the latest figures that were 1 hour old and showed him that what he was saying was untrue ,his face was a picture.

I thought it was 12 weeks for AZ, but spain not using that to the same extent. 3 weeks for the pfizer. I have just got my appointment for pfizer with second dose 3 weeks later.
