Hi Everybody,

We are moving to Novleda at the end of March and have purchased a rural property about 2km for the edge of the town (SW Side).

Although we are looking forward to our move, and a life in the sun (Manchester is not know for its tropical climate) we will need to sort out internet and T.V very quickly. There will be many other hurdles to cross, I'm sure, but internet is the first one.

Please can anybody recommend a provider who will come and connect us to the outside world, and get us one of the magic boxes that allow us to keep a little piece of the UK in our lives and watch the main T.V channels.

There does not seem to be a large expat community in Novelda, but if there is a social gathering place for expats (any clubs or bars), please let us know as we are keen to integrate into the community.

Another big one is Spanish language lessons. We have struggled along with Babbel and are not finding it easy, is there a local group of expats and Spanish that meet and help each other converse in each others language ? We think this has to be the best way to learn conversational Spanish.

If there are any bikers among you I would be very happy to join on any ride-outs that you plan, it will be such a pleasure not having to worry about any wet weather gear.

I look forward to any replies, and thank you for reading. Hopefully we can meet for a cold one in the future.

Regards.

Eddie S.

Hi Eddie

i lived in La Romana until last September so dont know about expats in Novelda

I used Cableworld in Novelda for internet  ( approx 24 eur/ monthly )

i had a sat dish for tv as i think that is better than iptv ( cost about 150 eur as i had my own dish and sky box . probably around 275 eur ? for dish and installation)

Hi Eddie,

Welcome to the area and good luck for the move in March.

There isn't a significant ex-pat community in Monover (we are 10 minutes away) but you will discover others and Pinoso has quite a few. We have 6-8 good friends here already and thankfully now the restictions are lifting, chance to meet up outside.

Re Internet. It can be VERY local, so what works for us in Monover (Cableworld) may not be the best for you. Typically it depends where you are / proximity to the town of course, as always so townhouses often do quite well with fibre. Asking the neighbours always helps, or confuses. Others on here may know.

We get 10-15Mbps down which is ok and sustained Teams and WhatsApp calls.

Roland is a great sat person, did a really tidy job for us re TV. +34 685 419 070. Numbers starting with a '6' are mobiles, so you can WhatsApp him. '7' as well now.

There is always space and time for a beer. I was a biker but found that I don't bounce as well, so the management team has curtailed that.

Best wishes,

D&J

Hi D & J,

Thank you for your reply, it seems that Cableworld is the one to go to first, I will try them. If I need a Sat man I will call your contact.

I too am of the age where I don't bounce so well, and the management says my eyes and reactions are not what they used to be either, and has made me sell all my high speed bikes. I'm now of the age where I can get away with a Harley, and the boss is comfortable on the back in her arm chair :)

Always up for a beer and chat, will send you a personal message.

Regards.

Eddie.
