Hi, this is my first post on here, hope it finds everyone well. My wife and I are the earliest possible stages of thinking about retiring to Spain. Very much looking at whats what, all of the admin required and where to go etc. It won't be for a good while yet but it has occured to us that there is absolutely no reason not to and a million reasons why we should.

Initially looked at Murcia/Cartanega. It looks great but it feels a bit out on a limb and we wanted to be nearer to more large cities whilst living in a vibrant smaller community. We really love the look (and prices) of Oliva but there is a niggle in the back of my mind. We both love walking and would definately have a dog.  My reservation is that  it appears there appears to be only a few beaches along the Valencian coast where dogs are allowed. Does that mean allowed full stop ie not allowed on the walkways and promenades altogether, or does it mean OK to walk along the promenades, wooden walkways and the dunes?  For example could we walk from the Canal les Fonts to Molinell along the beach with a dog or the other way towards Xeraco? It may seem like trivia but this would be a big part of our life.

Whilst Oliva looks superb I think we would enjoy being slightly closer to the beaches, and possibly Gandia.  Are any of the villages such as Piles/Miramar/Guaramar better than others and what do they provide in the way of community?

Anyway, that's probably enough for now. Thanks for reading.

Kind Regards-Nick in a very cloudy Wiltshire!
