Hi

I need to exchange my UK licence for a Spanish one asap. Please can anyone offer any advice on whether I need a medical first and if so where to go in the Oliva area for both the medical and the driving licence appointment? (I am 55). When I tried to book an appointment online it looked like I would need to go to Valencia ... is this right?

Many thanks

Gail

No medical if you're just doing a swap, and the nearest DGT to Oliva is Valencia.

Thanks  a million again Jim - I deliberately didn't message you again as I didn't want to bother you yet again.  The website for making appointments was down yesterday but I will try to get an appointment again today.

I did mine in Alzira, a little more relaxed than Valencia

Thanks Relyat, I might look at that, do you live in the Valencia province?  Also, did you take a translator? My Spanish is still quite limited and I don't really speak any Valenciano so I had a friend come with me for my Residencia appointment but don't like to keep putting on her.

Apologies, Gail, I forgot about Alzira. And I agree with Relyat - if you avoid one of the major centres then it's worth doing so. For example, Elche is far more civilised than Alicante.

Thanks again to both of you. I've just realised that Alzira is shown under Valencia in the listing on the DGT website so will try there, although unfortunately the website is still not allowing you to make an appointment.

No, I didn't use a translator.

My Spanish isn't the best, but you're going there for a specific purpose. If you're not sure of technical terms then learn them beforehand. They were very helpful with me and this kind of exercise is by far and away the best way to learn and improve confidence.

I paid a driving school in Ondara to do it for me. They did it all, licence sent to my home address, 100€
