Moving to Oliva....
I am moving to Oliva soon. I will be on my own so need to start getting to know people. Other than U3A are there any friendship groups, walking groups or other social activities I could become involved in? Thanks in advance.

Hi Lucy
There are a lot of Facebook groups that have meetups, Gandia Grapevine tend to try and organise get togethers. There is also the Gandia Area Social Group on Facebook, and they have a webpage. There is not a lot going on at the moment though. You could also join the Oliva Tattler on Facebook, as they have lots of useful information. When you get here, a lot of the English bars are good for meeting people, Nicky's bar, Cafe Molinos, Cafe Oliva, Bar Amigos, and Honeydukes are all popular. There are often quizzes, and you can ask to be put with other groups.

Hi Diana, that's really useful 😍 xx
Hi I'm quite interested in looking at properties in the Avanida Matisse area. Can anyone tell me anything about this area, pluses and minuses please. I understand it has no bus links. Thank you.
Regards, Sean

Hi Sean
I don't know much about the Avanida Matisse area, I think it is in Oliva Nova, rather than the town. I suggest you visit at different times of year, as it may be a bit quiet in the winter months, with not much going on.

Hi Sean
Avenida Matisse is Oliva Nova & you are correct, there are no bus services, you will need a car or moped.
After a year living in Oliva old town, I moved to just off Cami Bassetes on lockdown day! Therefore, as most properties & apartments are holiday homes, it's been very quiet. I understand that during a 'normal' summer, it becomes very busy, but quiet & relatively unpopulated during winter. However, before lockdown, the beach was popular with walkers at the weekend, even out of season. The long beaches near Oliva are really lovely.
There's a small supermarket, cafe-bar, part-time farmacia & estate agent on Carrer de Roeric de Osona with a panaderia not far away. Camping Pepe & Camping Ole right next door also have bar-restaurants right on the beach. Due to the restrictions of lockdown, I've not explored the Oliva Nova Golf Resort, but understand that the commercial centre isn't very commercial & has a few vacant lots.
What else do you want to know?
Best wishes, Nancy
HI Nancy,
thank you for your response and apologies for the delay with my enquiry. Due to the lock down and living in the UKi am unable to come to look around Oliva hence the delay in getting in touch agiain There is property in Oliva Nova, a two bedroom apartment that looks over the golf course and not far from the beach, that i'm very much intrested in. I do know there is no bus service to the town and would have to purchase a car.I enjoy walking and like the fact the beach is near.
I'm hoping i'll be lucky and that it is on the market after lock down, whenever that might be.
Do you know what the standing charges for Electric and water might be in Oliva as i am going to be using it as a holiday home and then hopefully spend more time there when i retire in a years time ?
Thank you, Sean.
