My property sustained some damage during the spring storms, I decided to make a claim on my buildings insurance, sadly the insurance company turned down my claim, the reason for this is uncertain. I want to know if anyone has been in a similar position, what they did about it and if a satisfactory conclusion was reached.

It depends on the insurer. I have had refusals earlier because of "maintenance failure". The short answer is to enter an appeal. If you use an agent to insure the house,get them to deal with it. It is well known that surveyors are tight buggers.

Firstly you need to know the reason your claim was rejected, they have to give a reason otherwise you cannot act on it. Then check policy details to see what is covered.
A new neighbour is fighting with her insurers here over a 'weather related 'claim. dont know the lady but heard from someone else, so no update

I too suffered water damage which came through the roof and down a light in my bathroom. I tried to make a claim and was told Spain had not had enough rain so I was denied insurance. I have recently changed my insurance company to Jennifer Cunningham which was a lot cheaper for more cover.
