We are looking at buying a property in Oliva. Are there any areas you should avoid for noise etc.please.

Have you been there?

If so, have you explored the town?

Hi Relyat we are here at the moment and we also visited in March. Seen a lot in the old town but feel it is very hilly and can be noisy. Have seen some property on the outskirts of town which looks nice but unsure what the area is like hence the question.

OK.

The old town can be noisy and, as you've seen, is difficult for access. It can be awkward to get a vehicle to the door without wanting to park nearby. Something to consider regarding deliveries and getting shopping home, I wouldn't want to carry a weeks worth of groceries up the hill. There was also a problem with burglaries going back several years, I believe that's not now an issue.

There's Tossal Gros, the urbanisation on the hill, good views I expect but no facilities and you need a car to do anything.

The town itself is pleasant enough but mainly flats.

Beach area has some facilities year round and depending on the individual is walkable from town. Some parts are deadly quiet in winter though and you could easily be the only occupied house in the street.

There are other houses around the outskirts, but you would have to make up your own minds if they suit your requirements.

Have you spoken to, or seen, any agents? If so which ones?

Don't discount the other coastal towns between Oliva and Gandia.

Hi We will spend 6 weeks at a time here and then let it to family and friends when we are not using it.

Personally I would discount the old town. As well as access problems, there are shall we say some lawless elements in that neck of the woods.

I like the beach area and as Relyat said, you also have Piles, Miramar etc. further along the coast. There',s also the Oliva Nova area south of the town, but it's very quiet in winter. I personally like the area between Oliva Nova and Denia, we go to Deveses beach a lot, its our nearest. There's a few new apartment blocks going up there and further south on the road to Denia near the beach.

Or as a wild card, consider somewhere 15 minutes inland like Pego or my village just outside Pego, called Adsubia. Its a great place, super new communal pool and bar as well as three other bars with food.

Good luck!

When you say ‘let it’ to family and friends, are you aware that if there is any financial involvement, even minimal such as towards utilities, you will need a tourist licence from the Ajuntamiento. Do not be tempted to do any of this without the licence, the Guardia can and will, evict your friends and also fine them for effectively renting somewhere without the requisite licence. This has to be displayed on a plaque outside the building and all passports and relevant details have to be registered with the Guardia Civil. Plus tax has to be paid!

Thank you we are aware and will be requesting a licence when and if we do.

Wondered if anyone would be able to help me with how to find a cleaner/home help to cook 2/3 times a week for an older family member who has moved to Oliva?
