Spanish paints are formulated differently to UK types, and ‘emulsion’ is a little different here. There are several very large paint suppliers in the area, ‘HECHO” being one outfit who are usually very helpful. Whereabouts exactly in Oliva they are I can’t tell you, but having driven through there several times, there is a decorator’s merchant on the main road through the town on the way to Gandia, can’t remember which one.

Tell them you want pintura para paredes interiores - paint for internal walls - and they will sell you the right stuff. It usually comes as ‘mate’ - Matt - finish. Most paint here is water based, including paint for woodwork etc, although it comes in various finishes.

Hi

Upon advice on this forum I just bought paint in la Xenia. I opted for one coat and it was €35. However it was really really thick and we had to end up thinning it down which was great as it still only took one coat but got two rooms sorted instead of one-we went for Titan make. We had bought cheaper stuff in Leroy merlin previously when we bought apr and it took 5 coats and was a nightmare so,although dearer, it definitely pays to get one coat

Like everything, you gets what you pays for!! Titan is very good quality and there are a couple of other high end manufacturers. One can also get special colours made, but the concept of being able to buy sample sizes is virtually unheard of, the minimum is usually one litre.
