A question that has come up on some sites around. Heating a pool with electricity is a rich man's (or well off) pastime. Reading La Zenia it would seem the average cost for an electric heater is €4,250 depending on size of pool. Some as low as 1,000 euro but some over 10,000 euro.

The cost of heating the pool, especially with the rising cost of electricity, averages out this year (2023) as between 200 and 350 euro a month with the average price paid 265 euro a month. Also reported you need to purchase a thermal or solar pool cover (cost not mentioned) and that it takes 2 days to get the pool temperature up to the required temperature so no good turning it off when not in use as it will take time to get it back up.

Have you maybe thought about solar heating for the pool? Maybe more of an initial outlay but the monthly running costs would be cheaper.

Do you really need your pool to be heated from May through to October? External weather temps during this period are warm enough to naturally heat the water in your pool to a comfortable temp, we have a pool without heating and never ever thought that it needs heating?

hi!

I agree with Marcliff. I have had a pool with heater but the results were disappointing.

I now have 9m x4m pool without heating and can easily swim daily from April to October.

I had my 1st swim last week so still in March!!

We have a pool heater and our pool is currently 28 degrees. However, we have solar panels so it doesn't cost anything for electricity.

I used to fit Carrier Heat pumps to heat pools for those that could afford it. Cheapest way to heat a pool.

We have an 8x4 (72-ish cubic metre) pool.

A pool heater (heat pump) was installed late in February. By mid-March we had raised the pool from 19 to 28 degrees. It is now ticking over at 33 degrees. The heat pump cost around Eu 3200 installed (including a 6mm cable from our consumer unit). The heat pump and water pump pull around 4kw between them, so you need to think about your electrical supply.

We have 32 square metres of solar panels and a 6kw invertor, so the heat pump has cost practically nothing to run so far.

BUT ... we also have a sliding aluminium/perspex pool cover (in effect a greenhouse), so our pool started at 19 degrees, while our neighbours' pools were at around 10. Without the cover, I suspect that running the heat pump in February/March would be throwing money down the drain.

Hi . I also live in Ontinyent. I heat my pool for nearly free. I use a long length of black irrigation pipe coiled up and a small pump or you can hook it up to your existing pool pump . The sun heats the water in the pipe. Mine is home made but commercial versions are available . If you want more details let me know.
