Hi,

I'll detail our position and hope that somebody can advise.

I am 61yo and retired from work but don't get a state pension until 66yo.  My wife is an EU citizen by birth with a Polish passport.  She is 66yo and receiving a UK pension.

I've looked at the very helpful advice on this forum but can't see anything that covers our situation.

As an EU citizen I am assuming that my wife can move to Spain freely.  Now that I am not an EU citizen I think that I have to jump through the hoops applicable to third countries like getting a visa, proof of income, healthcare etc.  Does anybody know if this is still the case or does having an EU citizen as my spouse affect this?

If my wife being an EU citizen doesn't change anything for me then looking at proof of income requirements, does that still require that she shows means to support herself ie I have to show income of 2269 euros a month, does the additional requirement to show income of 564.9 euros still apply to her as an EU citizen?

Am I right in thinking that the financial requirement can be met by drawing upon savings to supplement income or does the financial test only apply to income?

Many thanks

Ian

My position is similar as my wife is Danish, it's only an advantage if your wife has residency already,  we put a joint application in but we're being dealt with seperately.
