Hi There, can anyone recommend anyone who can remove/destroy caterpillar nests from high up pine trees please, BEFORE they decide to go on the march, many thanks

My house was surrounded by high pine trees. I used a high powered (telescopic-sight) air rifle & found that a couple of well aimed pellets into the nest destroyed the colony. A Spanish neighbour advised & explained that the holes allowed in a parasite. An enjoyable past-time & I got quite good at it!

I don't know how effective these are but there is also a way of putting a thick line of grease around the trunk which stops them getting to the ground.
V, I guess that is fun before they produce the hairs otherwise you could be scattering them to the four winds.

It worked. ( Prior to their descent) & The caterpillars ( after ), also tend to drop from the trees into a neat pile, before their processional "walk". Their hairs blow in the wind without encouragement. I found that out 20-odd years ago, when I stupidly put my washing line under the pines! ( We live & learn).
