Hi everyone , myself (64) and my husband (62) are seriously considering moving to Spain and love the idea of Orba and the fact we can visit Denia for a look about and visit the harbour.

We are attending the Place in the sun next weekend to try and get more information, then coming out to Spain for a week in June, we are staying in an Hotel in Denia but very much want to visit Orba.

We would love to have a place where we could (if possible) walk to local restaurants, bars and coffee houses, very much would like to integrate into the local community, definitely would like to learn Spanish and just generally know that there are friendly ex-pats to meet up with and have a chat.

Any help with where we need to visit and look around in Orba would be amazing and if anyone feels they could spare some time and meet us would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards.

Hi Angie,

Thank you for replying, it's lovely to communicate with someone from Orba, from what you describe it does sound absolutely ideal for us. When we come out in June we must head to the square and check out the bars/coffee and tapas bars. Thank you for letting us know about your townhouse, unfortunately we probably won't be ready to look at a rental till the start of November In the hope of finding a lovely villa for us.

My husband was sat next to a couple of ladies on the plane out from Bournemouth in February and they were going to visit a lady in Orba who had moved a couple of times before finding her ideal place in Orba with views to the rock, this is what first started us thinking about it for us.

If anyone else would like to part with some words of wisdom then please do, would love to hear from you, we have a 1964 Morris traveller, Gordon as we call him and will be bringing him out with us, so any classic car buffs about?

Thanks again Angie.

Regards. Sheena

We have also chosen the Orba area.  Originally we were looking at Moraira, but then viewed properties in the Jalon Valley and realised that an inland location is better for us.  The Orba Valley was recommended to us and last month we stayed in Orbeta for 10 days.  Beautiful area, with lots going on, fantastic restaurants, and an easy drive down to the motorway/coast and the shopping at Ondara.  We hope to go back next month - and will be putting an offer on our favourite house (which is in Tormos - a small village close to Orba).  We have made friends there already (mainly through Facebook - I would suggest joining the local groups).  There are lots of fabulous homes for sale - the problem is choosing!

Thank you so much, just sounds amazing, we will be going out next month  the 11th -16th, can't wait. Thanks for suggesting the local facebook group, does it just come under Orba group or similar? We are really looking forward to meeting up with ex-pats and having a social life which is missing here in UK, been looking after my granddaughter from birth, she's nearly 4 now so ready for grown up and me time. Thanks again for your message, who knows, we may see you in or around Orba.

Cheers. Sheena

Facebook groups - I have joined lots; for Orba, Moraira, Javea, Denia and the Jalon Valley (which is so close to Orba and you will surely spend time there too, as there are excellent restaurants/markets and scenery).  I know there is a group for classic cars that meets in Moraira (part of the Moraira/Teulada U3A I believe), but there may well be another one closer to Orba?  Here is one local club  Marina Alta Classic Car Club

Yes, would love to meet up when our visits to Spain coincide.

Thanks for that. We have communicated with Marina Alta classic car club as needed advice on bringing 'Gordon's out.

If you happen to be out between the 11-16th let us know and we will definitely meet up.

Got place in the Sun exhibition this weekend so looking forward to the seminar on Spain.

Thanks. Sheena
