Jmp I was just browsing and came across your post. Noticed it was unanswered. Don't know if you've got fixed up. I am using Asfic Gestoria in Benidoleig. (Beside the supermarket behind Sabadell)
I have my appointment at the "extranjeros" police station in Denia tomorrow morning. You need an appointment (they can make it for you)
Docs are passport, NIE, proof of income/funds certificate from your Spanish bank, health insurance certificate with the correct wording, plus the application form itself. All originals plus copies.
I'm sure it's possible to do this yourself if you speak Spanish and can download and print the application form.
Hope this helps. (Was in Orba this morning - looking great)

While detailed, that makes it look incredibly daunting when in actual fact it's dead simple.

Accepted. And if I was a little dismissive then I also apologise.
Some ex pats find even the simplest thing can be quite daunting - something as simple as signing on the Padron for example - and I just felt your information might have ended up with some people saying to themselves "well let's forget it!"
Admittedly I used a Gestoria to file the paperwork, make and pay for the appointment.
Then all I needed to do was to turn up with Passport, NIE , letter from my bank to show funding, and certificate from my Health Insurance provider with right wording. The appointment lasted 10 minutes and the fee to the Gestor was money well spent.
Cheers, Steve

Hi there would you mind letting me know roughly the amount of euros it cost you to get residency, eg Gestoria abagodo etc, and if you had to pay for anything else.
I'll be going for residency in the next 2 or 3 months and got a private pension with prudential back in UK, so guess they'll want to know how much is in the account to support myself as I'm 56
Many thanks
Brian

Hi Brian. I did it through a Gestoria (there is no need to use an Abogado)
They did all the required paperwork, made the application and presented the documentation. They made the appointment for me at Denia Police "extraneros" office and all I had to do was turn up and present passport, NIE, letter from bank, and proof of Healthcare cover. The Gestoria charged me 425 for this but I think I was ripped off a little because I was unknown to them at the time. However, time spent in the police station was 15 minutes as it sailed through.
If I was doing it again I'd get a couple of quotes first.
Kind regards, Steve

Wow Steve that does sound a lot of euro, thanks for prompt reply, I'll give my abagodo a call who had power of attorney for property purchase last year and see if he does this, also the Gestoria in Campoverde where we live and see the price variations also probably try one or two more. Just one more thing Steve, is it best to take someone who speaks Spanish with us as we don't speak the lingo yet, was the 425 just for you or was there more than yourself.
Thanks Brian.

Hi Brian. Yes, think I overpaid but I wanted it sorting quickly. I'd be interested to know what quotes you get.
An application for 2 shouldn't be double the price of one, you would hope. One set of docs, one appointment, one fee I think.
I think most if not all the customer facing staff at the Extraneros offices speak English as they're dealing with all European nationalities and the common language is English. But if you can find someone to go with you who speaks a bit of Spanish, all the better. Personally I wouldn't pay for a translator as I really don't think you'd need one.
Keep us posted! Steve
