Hi, can anyone give me advice on my Jasmine plants.  We came back to Spain 2 weeks ago and our 2 Jasmine plants looked healthy and smelt lovely.  However, since then one looks like it has died, leaves are brown and very dry although there are still some pink buds coming through. Have treat them both the same and they are both in the sun until about 7pm.  Wondering if I should water it or not, cut off the dead leaves or just leave it alone completely.  Any advice would be welcome as I've looked online but am getting conflicting advice on different websites.  Thanks

I would also be interested in thoughts from any knowledgeable person! Ours have survived on a diet of complete ignóral for years perfectly happily, until suddenly a couple of weeks ago after some extremely cold nights and very high winds the whole lot have given up. But we also have blackish patches on the leaves, no idea, any suggestions, or do we simply hope they may get better as the weather changes?

Neither of us are gardeners so clueless, I’m afraid!

Many thanks

S

Thee are quite a few types of Jasmin. Some are very sensitive to cold winds. The strong scented type hate cold winds and die off but will come back. Keep well watered in the summer. Try cutting some of it back.

Thank you Steve, will try cutting it, which had been something we were considering with a lack of enthusiasm! I believe they may be the type from Madagascar, fairly heavily scented, but they seem common enough around here.

Do not be too harsh though when cutting it back. It will encourage it to grow by cutting small dead bits off.

Hello

I am soon to buy a largish one in a pot to stand  by the door on my  covered patio....

1. For it's ability to keep mosquitos at bay     2 To benefit from the beautiful scent.

I bought a small one years ago but it didnt withstand the summer heat.  I will watch this topic to see what info. I can gain this time!!!

Cheers
