Hi there everyone,

i have just joined your splendid forum :)

I am planning to move over there within the next year or so when i retire at 55 from being a nursing sister within a busy Manchester hospital (a job which i love). Just want to know if i can continue to work part time as a nurse over there?

Hello Delia, although it is an old article, this may help; https://www.justlanded.com/english/Spain/Articles/Jobs/Nurses

Unfortunately not.

You will need to speak fluent Spanish to work in a hospital setting.

There is some crossover courses you will need to undertake

Spain is awash with RGN level nurses, to the extent they are coming to the UK due to.lack of work

I'm sure you've got a pretty nice NHS pension. Enjoy it. That's what I'm going to do as soon as I retire.

hi cheryl

thank you so much for your informative information :)

I think i should enrol asap for spanish lessons. Even though i have worked as a   sister for a number of years in a busy teaching hospital, I would love/embrace working for the elderly in the community especially expats who need care.

thank you so much and please keep in touch

Delia xxx

Spanish will be invaluable. Opportunities would exist for more 1-1 care in a domiciliary setting. Nursing quals will go a long way as well.
