Hi there
We are looking to relocate to Orihuela and rent long term to start with.
To be able to rent we are to obtain an NIE number and bank account; are we able to remotely do this whilst still in the UK!
Also, what banks are recommended?

You can apply for an NIE number through the Spanish embassy or consulate. There are some adverts on the internet offering to do the deed but you will need to supply paperwork and photographs as requested.
If you want to open a bank account in the area where you will be living you have to be there in person to sign documentation.
