Another COVID question.   Sorry.   But if anyone has first hand experience please.  Janssen jag. today.   Was hoping to fly to Uk 4th September for a long standing hospital appointment.  Counting from tomorrow, as day of jag does not count, would be flying on day 15.   I thought that as long as 14 days had expired could fly as vaccinate.   Now I hear that you must wait 28 days after having Janssen.   Looked on  Ryanair, there they say the COVID certificate can take 2 weeks before you can download.    Any first hand knowledge appreciated.

Hi Mo,

Can you clarify please: you've had your Covid jab in Spain, but you're having healthcare in the UK?  Where are you resident?

Kind regards,

Kim

Yes Kimmy, Uk appointment not for me.   But I would like to accompany person who needs some support.   Don’t see what that has to do with question though.  Also if anyone is interested.   If you are on  holiday here you can receive jab here in Spain.

In reply to your post, Ryanair do not make the rules for flying to the U.K. it’s the U.K. government who make the rules, so you should be getting your information from them

Yes you are right the Janssen  jab is treated differently by different countries,, even within the U.K.

If you check the gov website of the country you are travelling to they all have a section on validity of Covid certs, I seen a mix of 14, 21, 22 and 28 days.

You can usually download your certificate the day after you’ve been jabbed,  certificate shows date of final  jab, in your case it will just show 1/1  and the jab date.19 Aug and as it’s not a travel document, just a certificate it doesn’t have any magical travel date on it.

If you’re still struggling, let us know which part of the U.K. you are going to and we can double check the website for you.

What counts as fully vaccinated

Thanks Lynn,

‘Fully vaccinated’ means you must have had a final dose of an approved vaccine at least 14 whole days before you arrive in England.

The day you have your final dose does not count as one of the 14 days.

If you were vaccinated in 2 doses it must be with the same (MHRA, EMA, Swissmedic or FDA) approved vaccine. For example, if your first dose was Moderna your second dose must also be Moderna.

For the UK programmes you can have 1 dose under the UK vaccination programme and the other under the UK vaccine overseas programme.

If you had an approved 1 dose vaccine, such as Janssen, you are fully vaccinated.

Thanks for helpful reply.   Reading the above on the gov. Website it seem that 14 days is the number for England.   Just to try and download certificate now.

The relevance of your residence status is to advise which country's rules apply.
