You can check the status of the car with DVLA here:

If it's SORN'd or simply untaxed then even taking it back to UK will be problematic and you might not even make it out of the port with it !

Taking a wild guess it's likely to be a low price which is attracting you to the car but you need to offset that  with the potential cost and aggro of legitimsing it which could well make you rue the day you ever clapped eyes on it.

How long has the car been here....?   If it’s more than six months and not been changed, you need to consider that the seller has been running it without tax, MOT /ITV perhaps evenn insurance and is quite likely a ‘wide-boy”.   So, anything he tells you about the condition and service history of the car is, shall we say....unreliable.   Walk away.
