According to their websites, the ITV stations at both San Pedro and San Javier are both open.
Both are in Murcia but your location is shown as Torrevieja. I don't know if it's still the case, but ITVs in Murcia didn't have the same noise tests as required in Valencia, so an ITV carried out in Murcia didn't make a car road legal to drive for a resident in Valencia.

I believe all I.t.v.s are now standardised and it does, not matter where it's done now usually easier quicker in Horadada, not always the case,as I,ve found out one very day,but you can book it in online.
As jimtayler states, if your car is registered in the Comunidad Valenciana, it is required a sonometry test, or you can be fined.

Hello:
I am absolutly sure they are not standardised, in Murcia they dont make the sound test that is required in the Comunidad Valenciana. It means that if the police see that they would make a traffic ticket like you didnt went to ITV.

We need clarification on this issue. Last year my local garage took my car to San Pedro for it's ITV, and I know of neighbours who do the same. Being a resident of Playa Flamenca, which comes under Valencia, I would like to know if it is a problem. Anyone know the rules for sure, please?

Hi Sheila. Have a look at the informe you were given along with the ITV sticker.
On Margaret's informe, the sound test is 5.1, and specifically refers to 'Comprobación Emisión Sonora', which relates to the Valencian requirement introduced by Valencia law Decreto 19/2004.
If your informe doesn't state that, then it would appear that you have a problem.
In my guide to the ITV, I said:
You can go to any ITV station you wish, with one proviso. Tests in the Valencian Community include a noise emission test, which some other communities do not require. If you live in the Valencian Community but take the test in, say, Murcia, then you have one month to take the vehicle for an additional inspection in the Valencian Community.

Hello:
Personally, I do not know, but I praise Jim Taylor for everything he writes in this forum. I regret to be in total disagreement with him but my experience working in a mechanical workshop and the contacts I have in the ITV is not correct what he says.
If your vehicle is registered in the Valencian Community and you go to another community with fewer tests you can be fined, without a 1 day or a month grace period.
A greeting.

Hi Jim, I actually changed my car about 2 months ago. I will see if I have the ITV details. As I bought from a dealer the car could have come from anywhere. Most people on this area avoid Torrevieja because the queues are very long. If the garage takes your car to the wrong ITV station that is bad, they should know what they're doing.

Wow, everybody I know takes their car to San Pedro, so they're all illegal! It appears that the motor mechanics round here are not very knowledgable of the law! Thanks heavens for this forum.
