Hello,

I and my wife will be driving from Bilboa port to Orihuela Costa in September.

We  were wondering:

(a) We are not in a very big hurry and we would like advice on the best route to take and what are the tolls for that journey and is it possible to take that journey on a dual carriageway without tolls?

(b) We intend not driving the whole way on the same day so would welcome some advice on a nice, clean, good value hotel about half way that has free parking and is not too far off the motorway?

Thank you in anticipation

Hi,

We do this journey most years as we like to spend the winter months in Spain. We have tried different routes but find the motorway via Madrid is the best . There are tolls which cost about €30 but I dont think you will ever get a toll free motorway . We usually break the journey and stop in Hotel Ciudad de Burgos . Its a clean ,comfortable hotel with option for dinner and breakfast . More importantly it is adjacent to the motorway  and easy to find .

Thank you very much Eileen57. The tolls are reasonable so I will probably go that way.

Thank you also for advice on hotel. I will check it out.

Your help.is most appreciated.

Best wishes

Hotel Ciudad de Burgos would be perfect on my return trip. I would prefer to get further down the country  on the way down. Any members have experience of a similar type hotel between Madrid and Orihuela Costa,

thanking you.
