''Would never use booking.com had two bad experiences with them in France we turned up and the hotel was overbooked so no room and in Spain they took our money received no confirmation and hotel had no record of our booking so no room again.''

We have our B&B here in Spain registered with Booking.com and their terms are if a booking is made through them the hotel/b&b HAS to provide either the room that is booked or find room in an equivalent establishment, as to the hotel not giving confirmation, this is given by Booking.com and is your receipt for your booking.

Did you ever phone Booking.com to tell them as they would have sorted it for you?

We went through the booking process with booking.com but never received a confirmation from them phoned hotel they had no record from booking.com but they took our money. Telephoned booking.com they said they had no record and we didn't have an account with them? Luckily we had used a credit card so eventually got them to charge back. All very strange as the charge on my card was to the hotel. The hotel in France was for the euros and there were over fifty people outside without a room who had booked with booking.com! Will never use them again.

That's strange Andrew65.  I ALWAYS use Booking.com and have never had a problem of any kind.  We have booked mainly dog friendly hotels, but they have ranged from cheapish hostals to expensive hotels.  I always choose to pay the hotel on arrival and there is always a free cancellation option offered if you need to amend your trip.  Hope you have better luck in the future :)

Andrew I'm sorry to disagree, but if you did not receive a confirmation of booking from Booking.com then you couldn't have finalised the booking. I too always use them when we go away and having used them from both sides I find they are really professional and have never let us down either.

I'm not going to argue with you, but I know what happened and you don't.

Not quite sure what happened here, but I've also been using booking.com for many years and never had a problem. If you select an option which is regarded as non flexible and "cheaper" you are agreeing to let the property charge your card before arrival. It's better to select a standard deal where you pay on arrival at the property.

I would imagine I've made 80-100 bookings with them and never ever had a problem.

Just my experience
