Hi, just found out from Amazon that if you have a library on your Kindle from UK, you won't be able to access it in Spain, have to purchase them again ROBBERY  ...be aware 🤬

Did you try downloading using a VPN?

Thanks. Purchased books and registered in UK. Now I've got a Spanish Tel number, when I called them they said I cannot access books bought in UK from my library

When you know how you'll never have to pay for a Kindle book ever again.

I have a Kindle reader app on my PC. Books from Amazon UK work fine.

I'm rather puzzled by this as I always bring my Kindle with me and regularly read books that I downloaded in the UK , mostly free ones including those offered free on a monthly basis as a Prime benefit. I started to read a book this afternoon that I had purchased but not downloaded on to this device and it arrived immediately.  Maybe this is because I am an Amazon Prime subscriber.

Think you got some crossed wires there, someone is definitely telling you a load of porkies. The only way you would lose books is to change the country your kindle is registered to.

For instance I have Amazon accounts in U.K. and Spain as well as  a couple of other countries.

My kindle is registered to U.K. so I purchase all my books from  Amazon U.K.

I am unable to purchase anything for my kindle from Amazon Spain - because your kindle is linked to one country -  see screenshot.

I want English books to read, so there is no logical reason as to why I should change my kindle to Spain.
In Amazons eyes  you would be closing you U.K. kindle account and starting afresh with a brand new Spanish kindle account. Your content would still be linked to your U.K. account, but you wouldn’t be able to access them as your device would be wiped clean.

All my Amazon accounts have my Spanish, address, phone number and card details.

I have a kindle you can download books anywhere in the world to read., without the need for a VPN, In fact there is no way you could load a VPN on to an actual  dedicated  kindle e-reader.
I’ve purchased four or five new kindles from Amazon Spain  ( I read a lot I wear them out!) and them have all been delivered registered to my U.K. account. Amazon can see from content and devices that my kindle is linked to U.K.

Sorry you are wrong on that, your phone number has got absolutely nothing to do with your kindle app.
You never loose your kindle purchases,  with the exception of Amazon  Features such as Prime Reading or Kindle Unlimited.   But that’s only If you stop your subscription.

Books are always in your library, generally they are only downloaded to one device, unless you have tweaked your settings . If you have a new device or additional device you just click on the previously purchased book to download it to a new device

You do not have to contact Amazon for your books at all. It’s all done through your kindle app in that case.

Questions for you

Do you have Amazon accounts in both U.K. and Spain I’m guessing you have both but have purchased kindle books in the U.K.

If you have both accounts  Log in to  both Amazon accounts through your browser - Go to your accounts and lists  - then manage your content and devices.   …………. Content comes up first by default,  - your U.K. Spanish one should show content linked to your U.K. account as per screenshot above and your U.K.  account should show a page like mine in the  screenshot below.

When I called them and said I now live in Spain with Spanish Tel number they said I could not access library as not in the country that I registered in. I access using my phone not a Kindle device.
