Hi all

I had my debit card stolen on Friday 3rd July, reported it immediately but have just been to the bank to check statement and find I have had 700 euros taken from it, the bank tell me they are not responsible and to check my house insurance to see if they will repay me, this can't right surely as I was in the bank when it was stolen.

Pleae read carefully the smallprint on the contract you have signed with the issuing bank. Regrettably you have poor not to say no chances to get your money back, sad but true.

I didn't know this was the case with the banks in Spain and is this actual fact?

I would like to see this in writing from my bank as I thought banks had a common code of practice and regulations.

Before Killjoys comment I would have said that would be the first comment to fob you off. How do you know the card was stolen in the bank?

I would definitely do some research into this. Someone on the forum may have unfortunately been in the same predicament and may be able to advise of their findings.

In the UK I've been subjected to load of frauds on my bank accounts and I have always been reimbursed. As you know online fraud is getting more common but you can only be so careful.

Last year I made a bank transfer to someone for a car in the sum of £13880.00 of a very clever fraud. My bank originally fobbed me off. I took the case to the financial ombudsman because at the time of the transfer I asked all the right questions to the bank and they didn't do their job properly. I got all my money back plus compensation and interest!

I'm making the point as there has got to be a Spanish equivalent of an ombudsmen.

Good luck and please share the outcome if possible.

If that's all you have got to offer with a one line comment and nothing constructive why bother sticking your face in!

I didn't say he did........if you look at the original poster, it implies he/she were in the bank when it happened..... but yes it could have been from a car whilst in the bank or other scenario.

It's people like you who cause problems on forums so why dont you go away and annoy someone else.
