Hi

Yesterday evening my wife whilst walking our dogs fell into a sinkhole at the end of the canal from Pau to Ave del las  Brisas .

She seriously damaged her right leg. Had 20+ stitches and possible ligament damage and spent the night in Torrevieja Hospital.

The sink hole is just on the right by the bridge as you arrive at the Las Brisas junction towards the Plaza.

I need to know who to complain to before someone else gets seriously hurt.

Any info appreciated

Thanks

John

Hi John,

Your poor wife!  Hopefully, she's over the shock of such an event, although it sounds like the physical damage could take a while longer.

If I were you, I'd take photos of the sinkhole, along with photos of your wife's injuries, and report them to your Town Hall and the Guardia Civil (you'll probably need a translator).  I'd also recommend doing this as soon as possible.

Please pass on my best wishes to your wife for a speedy recovery.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi John

in addition to Kimmy’s suggestion, it may be worth contacting the Mayor covering Villamartin- screenshot attached

Good grief! 😳  I think I'd take a photo in the evening too, without a flash, to replicate the ligniting conditions when your wife was walking.  And if you don't get a quick response from the authorities, call Costa Blanca News 😉

Any claims should be made with an appraisal set up by a "medico forense". The council is responsible by means of "responsabilidad patrimonial".

An action group, AVOCA, works very hard in reporting such issues. They have a FB page and post pictures of problem areas. It would be really good if you could email them a copy of the photo. Their email address is [email protected] They have had success before in pushing the town hall to act.
Best wishes to your wife, an thanks for warning everybody.
