With most electric bills increasing this month by more than a third has anyone changed company? I've seen on some comparison sites that Repsol are offering the best deal so wondered if anyone has made the move and what they are paying?

Depends on what potencia you are on and which tariff you require.

Some companies only offer the variable rate.

Standing charge is the same across the board.

Reduced IVA has been extended I believe for another couple of months.

We’ve just changed back to Iberdrola with a huge saving.

I have used Iberdrola since 2005 and, yes, bills have steadily increased over the years.   I have just received my latest bill and it is just over 50 euros for a 29 days (of which, naturally, quite a chunk is made up of service charges and taxes).   Not bad, I believe, for a January bill!

Only 50€, do you actually live in that property and use electricity for heating, hot water, cooking etc?

Hello

My last Iberdrola  bill was debited  at the end of December & was €54.57 and yes I live here so heating , hot water ,partial cooking (gas hob)  etc all in use daily....Ive been an Iberdrola customer for  18years. I do expect  January bill  to be higher as heating has been on much more this month - after all those years living  in Spain,  I cant  bear to be cold

Cheers

Hello Espanglo, My wife & I live in a 3 bedroom apartment in Guardamar town all electric except for bottle gas hob. Since 2015 we have been with Iberdroler 5.5kW fixed standing order each month which has just gone down to 66€. It was fixed at 79€ during 2021 but we have just got a refund of 159,64€. We try to be economical by using our washing machine only during the cheap rate period of Midnight to 08:00am Monday to Friday plus 24hours at weekends and National Fiesta Days. In reality we don't use the machine before 06:30am to avoid annoying the neighbours but our machine is now very quiet having had a recent change of drum shock absorber/mountings, also our building is strong and does not transmit noises very much. We also use a short wash 30 or 40° with 1000rpm spin for heavy towels, socks etc. We don't have a dryer but usually our South or West facing balconies are good for drying most days. We also have a solarium on level 6 which we would use for very heavy/wet items. We are aware that our 'Night Plan' means that the PEAK periods are 10:00am to 14:00 also 18:00 to 22:00. We don't use the aircon much, but have an oil-filled electric radiator on 4 hours each evening when necessary. I hope this gives you a guide towards our chosen economic life-style. Regards, Peter

You'll need to compare the price per Kwh (tariff) to get any meaningful comparison.

I could tell you how much our monthly bills are but this would be pointless as you wouldn't know how much power we use.

We're on the Iberdrola 8 hour plan. Our discounted rate is 0.1170 euros per kWh (any 8 hours) and our expensive rate is 0.2568 kWh. (from December bill)
