Mercadona - Advice to avoid this happening
Having just sold my house and cancelled direct debits, I needed to get more direct debits for my Santander bank account, so decided to get a few debit cards for stores which included Mercadona. Having got my card I waited for a p.i.n. to arrive which 2months later still hadn't so I asked my local store to telephone for me as all the help lines were fluent Spanish speaking and I am not, but he
said no and I should ring the number as advised, well having been transferred from one department to another asking the same question regarding the un-sent p.i.n. finally fully frustrated, someone said you don't need a p.i.n. just use your card and present i.d.. Why the first chat could not have told me this I don't know. I am telling my story not as a complaint more to give information to others to avoid the same happening to them. Sure enough I used my card today signed the electronic signature and presented a copy of my passport, job done !!!!!
