We’re moving back to the UK and would like some guidance on customs forms and any taxes payable that will be required in preparation for sending our personal and some household belongings probably by a local transport company. I know about the form TOR1. Someone mentioned  a £250 customs tax but can’t find anything about that. Anything ideas welcome. Thanks

Hi Oldrope and welcome to the forum,

There´s a lot of information on Gov.UK that should be helpful:

https://www.gov.uk/moving-to-uk

Kind regards,

Kim

Yes thanks. I’ve visited these pages and they’re helpful. Still can’t find anything about a £250 flat customs.

Hi, check out Chevron Secure Couriers. They are on FB, Steve has an excellent reputation in the removal business. My friends and I have used him over the years, can’t fault him. Very good prices. He knows all the current procedures.

Hi we have completed the tor 1 in advance of moving back to the uk and using howells removals.  Their quote for removals included £100 customs fees so I think whoever said the figure you are quoting have got it wrong Hope this helps
