Hi all, just wondered whether anyone has had a go at painting Rattan furniture and if so successful or disaster.

Yes! I’ve done it lots of times with garden furniture on a covered patio. I didn’t rub down the natural rattan as it was too delicate and spray-gunned straight over with white paint. It really did last well. I’ve also sprayed bedside cabinets and chests of drawers with rattan insets and they are also looking very good!

Yes,a tin of spray paint gets into all the little nooks and crannies, available from ferreterier or chinese shops. Don't rub down unless greasy.

Yes my garden furniture has gone grey in the sun, got a couple tins of black plastic paint, was very easy to put on with a paint brush, it looks fab. Bought from DIY shop in La Florida.
