Hi All,

We have just purchased our first Spanish apartment in Playa Flamenca, and are coming out next week for two months to get the place sorted out. However, that timescale crosses with my wife's requirement to have a B12 injection on or around the 12th July. The question is, can anyone recommend a clinic/doctor surgery, who you would recommend to carry out the injection for her. She will be bringing the syringe and injection fluid with her.

Thank you,

Ian & Jacqueline

Hi,

I also have B12 injections monthly - I live out here permanently.   You could bring the injection forward a few days so that you can have it in England, I have done that when going on holiday out of Spain, sometimes brought it forward a week.   However, there is no problem getting these injections outer here.   All the doctors surgeries [Central de Salud] have nurses that will give you the injection.   Just go along to the doctors before the required time and ask for a CITA [an appointment], you will need your passport and EHIC card.   Good luck,

I have B12 injections every 2 months.  I get the repeat prescription in the UK and just bring the ampoules with me and take it to the medical centre (Dr Ballesteros) on Quesada high and have the injection done for 7 euros. Painless as they do it in the bum here as opposed to the arm which they do in uk.

I may be being a bit thick here, but if it's not an intra-venous injection, then you can do it yourself. After having a new knee, I had to give myself twenty or thirty (can't remember) jabs of anti-coagulant. It's not a problem.

OK, I was issued with hypodermics, but before my knee job, I bought a hypo from our chemist, as I use one for applying lubricant to small mechanisms.

Hi Jim Me again I’m a nurse and the vitamin B injection has to be given intra muscular as opposed to sub cut for anticoagulant which is just under the skin.

Hi Andrea,

Apologies for the time taken to respond to you. Since arriving we have been very busy knocking our apartment into shape, so the B12 injection took a bit of a back seat. We found a clinic in Playa Flamenca, and they carried out the procedure for my wife.

Thanks again for the info, it was much appreciated.

regards

Ian & Jacqueline

Hi, Apologies for the lte reply, since arriving we have been up to our eyes in cleaning products and painting, so the B12 had to take a back seat. My wife had it done this week in a Playa Flamenca clinic, and as you say, it was in the bum, which she was very happy with.

Thanks again

B12 injections can be done easily at home.  Note, the UK doctors do not even understand NICE guidelines and underprescribe or are reluctant to prescribe B12.... you can bang your head plenty.
