hi. Does anyone know the reason the Jumerca/Gama shops in and around Villamartin are closing down. It must be soon...the shelves are getting emptier by the day.

The one in Doña Pepa is the same.

Anyone been in the one by the Abbey Tavern lately?

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Don’t want to appear rude, but that hasn’t really answered my question. Villamartin has been fine IMO up until last couple of weeks. I heard the closure was something to do with not being able to continue to source British products, which are getting more and more expensive for the retailers, therefore they need to pass this increase to the customers, which isn’t feasible.

In real terms they don’t stock just British products, They stock products to suit all the nationalities in the area. It’s not like Overseas or The Food Co their stock is probably 95% British/Irish.

So I’m sure they could still operate even if they couldn’t source Brit foods.

The one in Quesada closed earlier this year, or maybe it was last year?

Just read on another thread the one in Doña Pepa closes next week.

The one in La Florida has been clearing their stock for weeks, now almost empty. One of the workers said she was hoping that another company was taking it over. The staff have not been told anything. Also heard gossip that it might be taken over by Irish. We will have to wait and see, I think lockdown affected them very badly. I expect whoever takes over, will need to close fior a while to renovate.
