Hi, we've had our house here for nearly 18 years and have had the pleasure of this noisy little plane doing cartwheels overhead most mornings for 3/4 hour a time. We've put up with it. However this noisy little plane has now upped the ante and is here 3-4 times each day, circling, climbing, diving, looping the loop and making a tiresome racket for a lot of each day. You must all hear it - the noise is unavoidable, even indoors. Does no-one else object? It's certainly driving me crazy. I'm sure it is from the flying school at Mar Menor - I have emailed them but have had no reply. So, rather than disturb their own folks, this plane flies up to our area and pesters us with its racket - for 3/4 hour, 3-4 times daily! It's not on. And I have to wonder whether teaching learner pilots should be carried out over a highly populated area, such as ours.

The question is: what can we do about it? Who controls flying schools in Spain? Who controls noise pollution in Spain? Anyone?

That's the way of things here in Spain, no one takes responsibility for anything, they all have what I call sloping shoulder syndrome, think it's imprinted in their DNA.

Complain to the police, they will tell you that you know where the airport is if you don't like the way things are done or not done here.

If it's any comfort here on Montegolf we have a training plane buzzing around day in day out like a demented wasp.

The “noisy little plane” you refer to is a Pilates PC9M trainer, around 6.5 million or so euro worth if one was to buy one. Military turboprop trainer. I Don’t mind them really, but then I’m biased.....

Good luck getting the military training to stop, won’t happen.

You should try living at or near the USAF bases at Mildenhall and Lakenheath in Suffolk,I,m sure the little planes also fly at San Javier but there big brothers fly there,I was lucky enough to be there when some one got to play with the latest Euro fighter wow what an exhibition that was.,sorry it troubles you.Maybe try some music when they are flying

Yes, it does appear to be the military or Spanish Air Force training. I got a reply from the flying school at Mar Menor who said it wasn't them, it was indeed the military at San Javier. OK, so...I'll Google for their address and take it up with them. Agreed that changing their routine may not be easy but the question is why should they disturb us as much? Why not fly over Orihuela, Torrevieja or indeed just fly over the sea?

Thanks, yes, military it does appear to be. However it's not about getting them to stop flying altogether - it's about asking them to shift somewhere else some of the time. That doesn't sound unreasonable to me. There's a whole lot of sky out there, yet this plane chooses Orihuela Costa for its aerobatics - and now 3 or 4 times a day. That's the problem - no peace! I watched it yesterday, the 2nd morning stint, right overhead a lot of the time and taking in an area that looked to me to be no larger than from Campoamor to Punta Prima on the coast and no further inland than Villamartin. Why this area? It's highly populated. Why not somewhere else, less populated?

So, if anyone has the email address for said military flying school at San Javier, I'd welcome it, thanks.

There is a law in Spain that cannot be translated like for like to English but basically a Courtesy Law.

This relates to neighbours music and any other annoying noises that stop people in their homes enjoying the relaxation and peace and quiet.

This was told to me directly the the Guardia via my Translator.

A polite letter the the people is nice and also maybe suggest we have a massive Mediterranean Sea they can practice over.

I know with music anytime of the day or night you can call the Police and they attend but for military I think you will have to discuss and see what compromise can be made.

It is difficult as we need the military without a shadow of a doubt and practice is essential to keep up to speed with what is going on in the world.

I do sympathise as people have no idea the stress anxiety and depression this can cause. It it like someone tapping you on the head and not being able to stop it. Our homes are supposed to be our sanctuary our safe place.

Be kind be direct and I hope you reach a mutually agreeable compromise.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

I don't think you read it all. She is looking for a compromise.

I hope the Spanish Airforce are not targeting ( an inappropriate choice of word ) flying over British homes in retaliation for Brexit, LOL.

Yes, I know that is ridiculous, but only just as ridiculous as some of the scaremongering that has featured on the Forum about Brexit.

Thank you Gilly09. I also think it's a matter of being reasonable. We have been coming and going here for many years and were here in September. There was no problem then or over all the previous years so there has been a recent change in this plane's activity, i.e. it is now here 3 or 4 times as often per day - that's a big change and maybe they haven't thought about the disturbance it causes. It is worth taking it up with them which is what I intend to do.
