Solicitors costs for obtaining residency
Good morning
Can anyone tell me how much a solicitor charges for obtaining your residency for you once you have, pardon, medical insurance and the required amount in the bank.
Kind regards
Chris

Hi Chris,
On recommendation we are currently using TFX in Ponoso, albeit 40 minutes away from us they have been excellent and the total charge is
205 euros
Bill
A friend of mine is to pay her solicitor €150 for that service here in Benidorm.

Thank youm
There is no need to use a solicitor, a good local gestor can do it and their charges are usually cheaper. I have been quoted 90€ for my husband. (I have mine already and I did it myself but getting appointment now may be difficult so we are using a gestor this time).Make sure whoever you use works in the area you live so they will have local contacts/relationships.
Gestors can also help with exchanging your driving licence which must be done by the end of the year.

A gestor (or gestoría) is person Spain who deals with administrative bureaucracy on behalf of a client. In Spain they are not required to be a licensed attorney but often have lots of useful contacts and understand what papers you will need. I am going to have ours check all out paperwork is okay, make the appointment and come with us to translate.

Make sure you have gathered photocopies off all the paperwork needed (there is a lot). See Jim's guides on the ribbon at the top of the forum page. They are brilliant and helped me get everything together to get mine on the first appointment.

Hi Chris,
I agree with Gail, use a gestor (pronounced "hestor") - you don't need a lawyer to do this kind of thing and the difference in cost is simply that lawyer's hourly rates are much higher.
Matt of One Way Services in Ciudad Quesada charges Eu 60 per person for residency - I'm not suggesting you use him, as he's not in your area, but just to give you an idea of cost. Friends of ours used Uma at http://getlegalinspain.com/ - they were very pleased with her service and she generally has very good reviews.
Kind regards,
Kim
